Day off school

Today the kids don't have school due to Martin Luther King Day. I was only going to have Hans today but his Mom got put on call so he didn't even come.

This morning I made an appointment at Dr Torak (Trillium Creek Dermatology) in Medina to check the white spot on Adam's forehead. I think he inherited Uncle Curt's same white spots (vitiligo) but since Adam's is on his head I wanted to see if their was anything to do.

Dr Torak says it's more auto-immune and wanted some blood work to check his thyroid. She also gave us some ointment that if we put it on every night for 2 years the pigment should return to it's normal color.

I thought it would be nice afternoon for some R & R since we didn't have any plans. I thought R & R is reading and resting. It seemed to be filled of running and screaming. :)

Then we headed out to Baltic's. Milan's Mom is doing so well with her therapy and it's so nice to see the progress she is making. She had therapy today in Wadsworth. Then she puts a brace on her right arm and is to crank it till the pain is a 2 (out of 10) and keep it like that for 15 minutes. She is suppose to do this 3 times a day. Danny was doing computer work for someone. Matt & Lynn were up and Aaron and Minnie were home. The kids roller bladed and played hockey in the basement for awhile and then came up and played pictionary.

Friends for Supper

We invited Dan Yoder Family and Roc & Wanda over for supper tonight. Milan hauled gazebo's and outdoor Amish Furniture for Dan (in Dalton on SR 94--Hickory Acres) years ago and we got to know their family pretty well. They have 7 children. They now have 4 children married and grandkids. Dan's mother, MaryAnn lives with them. Dan was an only child. She is deaf. All but 2 kids came last night with spouses, boyfriends & kids. We had 31 people here for supper! Fun time!! I made BBQ ribs and meat balls. Gladys (Dan's wife) made potatoes. Wanda brought corn. I made salad and bread & rolls. Karen brought a big cake that she had made at work (Mrs Yoder's kitchen) for her Grandma's 74th birthday. Joe made chocolate and vanilla homemade ice cream.

I didn't take any pictures last night but I took these off of the kids facebook page....yep, they don't have electric at home or don't drive cars but they have facebook (at work!)

I can't believe my baby is 3 years old today. He is such a sweet and funny little man. He is a very social person and will talk to anyone. He loves to sing and knows his ABC's. He is into horses and cowboy's like Eli right now. He likes to play with the Leapster. He loves to help his daddy cut firewood or do chores. He loves when anyone will read a book to him. Of course he still sucks his thumb and likes his blankie. Thanks to everyone who sent him cards, money and gifts. He is still looking at his cards.

My 34th Birthday

What a fun day! Thanks to everyone who made it so special. Minnie texted me at midnight on my birthday and I got several calls, texts and cards throughout the day. Andrea called and said she was bringing over lunch. We had an awesome salad, soup and breadsticks from Olive Garden. And of course, good conversation!! Milan and the kids wanted to take me to Pizza Hut for supper. Then we went to the library. After we got home the kids were all excited to give me a present Daddy had bought all himself. It was a brand new laptop that he picked out at Best Buy. I'm so excited! I think the kids are even more excited because they are claiming my old laptop.

Here I am with my girls on my birthday at Pizza Hut:

Ryan & Jamy wedding

The wedding was beautiful. We had a fun time and glad we went. Here is Ryan & Jamy.

The reception. They had loaded potatoes that you could put on whatever you wanted. At least 20 toppings to pick from to put on a potato. Dinner rolls. Salad. Puddings. Cheese balls and crackers. Punch and cake.

Here is Adam with our hosts Larry & Deb Reinhard. They were fun people and the kids loved playing with all their toys in the basement. They have 2000 (yep, 2 thousand!) pigs. Their oldest 2 daughters are married and they all joined us at their house. Austin & Rachel Smith (baby Lydia). Matthew & Julie Freed. Then they have 2 children in college. Curt and Jenny.

Eli again at the reception. Why does he always make a funny face?

A little blurry but I liked the picture. Adam, Dad, Cooper & Maddie.

Our centerpiece. She wanted a winter theme. Yes, someone playing with the candle. Is it only my family that has to mess with candles??

The other centerpiece.

The cake. We ate sheet cakes and it was good. The boys wanted to eat this cake but we didn't stay around that late.
