My Dad's 57th Birthday

Today is my Dad's birthday. Since it's 'my turn' to handle the occasion, I invited everyone over for dinner. I had to run some errands this morning and decided to take Maddie to school at 12:30PM. Curt was on his way home from the dentist so we met at Smithville for lunch. Uncle Walt stopped in just as we were leaving and he joined us, too. Oh, back to 'my turn' topic for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about. We were always trying to get together for our parents birthday, anniversary, Christmas, etc gifts and then someone buying something and then we all pitch in. Well, Doug came up with a spreadsheet (for the next 30 years!!!!) and we each know when it's our turn. We get the gift, plan the occasion, etc. It's actually works out really well!!

We heard Shelby Beer passed away this afternoon.

For supper we had chicken wings/mini hot dogs for appetizers, ham balls, party potatoes (Joy), corn (Joanna), salad & layered jello (mom), bread (Gma H), applesauce and then for dessert we got a YoYo cake from Buehler's and I attempted Blondies (like AppleBee's). We played a true/false game and the kids are practicing for their 'program' that they do at Gpa & Gma Hartzler's each year. My kids also taught Tori & Tagen their school songs and Tori was nice enough to share some Sterling Elem songs to my kids. We had a fun evening!!

I'll have to wait till Joy gets her cable and uploads some pictures so I can borrow them. I didn't take any pictures last night.
