The worst phone call

Getting a call on Sunday morning saying that Milan's Mom was in a terrible accident is about the worse call to get. You can hardly think or know what to do. Katrina and Mom were on their way to Columbus for the day to help out for Audrey's church turn. They were just on 71 headed north when a 92-year old man came off the rest area exit the wrong way. It happened around exit 14 near Lagrange, KY. Mom did not see the car coming towards her until it was too late and he hit her side (drivers side) head on. She was life-flighted to University of Louisville Hospital. Katrina said she felt fine and wanted to ride in the helicopter with her Mom but then passed out when she stood up. So they made her ride in the ambulance. We all made arrangements with our kids (ours went to Gpa & Gma Ingolds) and all made that long trip down to see her. It was one of the longest rides I've been on in a long time. Everyone was calling and we didn't know much detail because Katrina was in the ER and her mom was in ICU. All 13 kids and most siblings made it down that day. Emil was on vacation and did not get messages until the next day. I can't even begin to describe the emotions that were in the room that day. The thought of everyone living all over and everyone with busy plans all came together that day to show Mom how much we love her and appreciate her still being with us. She was talking and so overwhelmed to see us all. All we know at this point is major pelvic damage and leg damage. She does not seem to have any head damage at all or which we are thankful.

That same afternoon Uncle Dale & Aunt Marilyn were having an Ingold gathering at their pond. My parents took the kids and they had a blast. They enjoyed good food, swimming, fishing and getting candy from the pinata were a few highlights.
