Debbie

My friend Debbie passed away peacefully this morning shortly after they turned off the ventilator. I'm sure her family would appreciate thoughts and prayers. Deb was such a sweet person with a beautiful smile and personality. I used to work with her at the Wooster Eye Center for several years. She also helped us enter 'Advantage Cards' in the evening at Buehlers office. I will always remember how much she loved her husband, Joe, who was Holmes County State Patrol and her 2 daughters, Julie & Dawn. I was just out of high school and just starting out in life and she always had wonderful advice. She came to my wedding and thought my husband to be was just the greatest. She helped plan my baby shower for the office girls. She was also there for me the day I got the call from Grant City Hospital when Milan was in his accident and life-flighted. She took me into her office and cried with me and held my hand while I made phone calls. I have not seen her in about 10 years and just last year I tried sending her a Chistmas card and letter and it was returned and I just didn't take the time to look her up again. I think her city is Big Prarie and I sent it to Millersburg. Just about a month ago I got a poem forward from Grandma Hartzler and it made me think of the special friends I've met in my lifetime and haven't talked to lately. Debbie was one of those people.

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
She knows I like her just as well,
As in the days when I rang her bell.

And she rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired women.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

'Tomorrow' I say! 'I will call on Jenifer
Just to show that I'm thinking of her.'
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,
'Here's a telegram sir,' 'Jenifer died today.'
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.

Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Because when you decide that it is the right time
it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.

i am sad, but how nice that you had someone to confide in when you were out of high school and she had wonderful advice as she had more experience. It reminds me of my friend Andrea Baney, she was so level headed, always there for me and a great friend. It's hard to forget such wonderful people that make a difference in your life.
